Choosing a wholesale CBD Supplier Part 1

Updated: Jul 29, 2020

Whether you are just starting a brand or growing and existing brand good partners are key! Your wholesale CBD partner can be a vital part ofyour success or can sometimes be a huge problem. This series will focus on some of the important things to look for when choosing a wholesale CBD Supplier.

Does your wholesale CBD Supplier have the proper Certifications?

There are many certifications floating around the hemp industry but the primary ones to look for are cGMP, FDA License and a state Hemp processing license.

GMP certification means that the hemp is being processed in a facility using good manufacturing practices, this address issues including record keeping, personnel qualifications, sanitation, cleanliness, equipment verification, process validation, and complaint handling. This is very important when selling to big box stores or selling in Europe often a GMP certification is required of all vendors. The little c in cGMP just denotes that the hemp processor is practicing current GMP practices and keeping up to date on all new regulations.

The FDA registration will tell you that the CBD isolate or any product coming from the manufacturer is safe to ingest and has been cleared in most cases as a food supplement.

The state Hemp license means that they have been cleared by the state to process hemp, most states have pretty stringent rules regarding these licenses so it gives you some idea of the type of people you will be working with i.e criminal record, credit worthiness.

Manufacturers will often have small logos on their website denoting each certification, always ask to see the paper work to back up these claims.

At Big Sky Scientific we are a cGMP certified, FDA registered Kosher facility.
